Jerell Miller closer to title shot, FOTY contender in co-main event
Unbeaten heavyweight prospect Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller (17-0-1, 15 KOs) made quick work of Nick Guivas (12-4-2, 9 KOs) in the main event of a card aired national on CBS taking place from the Seneca Niagara Resort and Casino in Niagara Falls, New York. Miller picked a second round KO as he easily dispatched of his foe.
In a fight of the year contender, super welterweight Skender Halili (10-1, 10 KOs) showed some glaring holes in his game as he barely got by journeyman Jason Thompson (5-12-4, 4 KOs).Thompson knocked down Halili twice in round two, but Halili power saved him as Thompson came in sloppy and was knocked out. The fight showed that Halili struggles with using distance and creating short shots.
In the opening television bout, lightweight Harmonito “El Huracan de Gensan” Dela Torre (18-0, 12 KOs) won an eight round majority decision over Guillermo Sanchez (15-19-1, 6 KOs). The judges scored the bout 78-74, 77-75 and 76-76.
