2012 U.S. Olympian Jamel Herring will get his chance at the big time as he takes the first major step-up of his career as he fights Denis Shafikov, who last fought Rances Barthelemy for the IBF lightweight title.

The news first reported by Jake Donovan of BoxingScene.com explains that Herring will be featured on a July 2nd edition of Premier Boxing Champions on ESPN in Reading, Pennsylvania at the Santander Arena.

The card will also feature lightweight Robert Easter Jr. fighting for his first world title against Richard Commey for the IBF lightweight world title.
