Women’s middleweight Claressa Shields picked up a victory today to help USA Boxing pick up it’s third medal for team USA. Shields, who was less mobile then the 2012 Olympic Games still easily defeated Yaroslava Yakushina of Russia, but appeared to be more content to sit on her back foot and look for a counter rather then being a hard target.  In the final round, Yakushina was nearly stopped

Shields will fight in the semi-finals on Friday at 11:30AM PST.

Tomorrow, Shakur Stevenson fights Vladimir Nikitin of Russia at 10:30AM PST in the semi-finals of Men’s bantamweight action, a win would put Stevenson in the finals. Nikitin basically lost his last fight, but due to bad judging somehow won
