Petrov beats “The Artist” Perez, in line for Linares title shot

Lightweight Petr Petrov, (38-4-2, 18 KOs) looks to have finally gotten his big fight as he defeated Michael Perez, (24-2-2, 11 KOs) after Perez’s corner called the fight off after the bell to end round six of a scheduled twelve-round bout in the main event from Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, California.

Petrov’s power was too much for Perez, who proved game, but overmatched for against Petrov who fought like a cannonball moving forward.

The win places Petrov in line for a shot at another Golden Boy Promotions fighter, Jorge Linares, who holds the WBA lightweight title.

Petrov has beaten two fighters under the Golden Boy stable back-to-back as he defeated Marvin Quintero and now Michael Perez.

Golden Boy prospect Genaro Gamez scored a knockout in the co-main event against an overmatched Vernon Alston, (9-7-1, 7 KOs) who was knocked through the ropes in the first round.
