Oscar Negrete wins regional title on ESPN2

Longtime friend of the blog bantamweight Oscar “Jaguar” Negrete (17-0, 7 KOs) scored the biggest win of career with an eighth round TKO against Sergio “El Frio” Frias (18-6-2, 9 KOs) to claim the vacant NABF title at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, California. The fight was supposed to be against Randy Caballero, but that fight was all for not as Caballero pulled out, because of an injury.

In the co-feature, unbeaten super lightweight Ryan “Blue Chip” Martin (20-0, 11 KOs) picked up a ten round decision over Marcos “El Tigre” Jimenez (22-8, 15 KOs).

Due to a television delay, only Negrete’s fight was televised on ESPN2.
