Younan-Elllis fight to draw, Thomas Mattice, Montana Love win on ShoBox
In the main event of ShoBox: The Next Generation at the WinnaVegas Casino and Resort in Sloan, Iowa, Junior Younan (14-0 9KOs) fought to a split draw with Ronald Ellis (14-1-1 10KOs). Younan jumped on Ellis early and never let him get going as the rounds progressed he used distance to force Ellis to plod forward only to get hit with jabs and right hands, but at the same time, Younan was highly inactive at times. The judges saw it 96-94 Younan, 96-94 Ellis and 95-95.
Lightweight Thomas Mattice (11-0, 9 KOs) scored a seventh round TKO over Rolando Chinea (15-2-1, 6 KOs) after seemingly losing every round prior to the stoppage. Chinea built a big lead with forward pressure, but with no angles. Mattice loaded up a big power shot and eventually got the stoppage when Chinea walked into the punch.
Last minute replacement super lightweight Montana Love (9-0, 4 KOs), who took the fight this week, scored an eight round majority decision over Samuel Teah (12-2-1, 5 KOs). The judges apparently watched a different fight than us as we saw the fight a clear win for Montana Love, but they scored the bout 78-74, 78-74, 76-76.
