Victor Ortiz-Devon Alexander fight to draw, Caleb Plant wins!
Two former world champions in the welterweight fought to a draw as Victor Ortiz and Devon Alexander went back in forth in a crossroads fight at the Don Haskins Convention Center in El Paso, Texas. This writer had Devon Alexander ahead as Alexander seems to be a new fighter after a shocking loss to Aron Martinez in 2015, Alexander returned with a dominant performance over Walter Castillo and appeared to be in control of the fight with Ortiz, but the judges saw it differently.
The judges scored the bout 115-113 for Victor Ortiz and 114-114 two times, scoring it a majority draw.
In the co-main event, Caleb Plant pitched a shut-out against an outgunned Rogelio “Porky” Media in a 12-round bout. Plant outboxed Medina, who also missed weight by a little under a pound. Plant now is the number one contender for the IBF super middleweight title.
2016 U.S. Olympian Karlos Balderas picked up a four-round decision over Jorge Zacazontetl with every judge having it 40-36.
Middleweight and former world title contender Tony Harrison picked up a fifth-round TKO over George Sosa.
Junior middleweight Austin Trout picked up an eight-round decision over Juan De Angel.
Welterweight Wesley Diana got a second TKO over Rynell Griffin.
Lightweight Jonathan Pachado picked up a four-round decision in the opening bout.
