Jose Ramirez eager to defend world title in Fresno for first time

WBC Super lightweight world champion Jose Ramirez of Avenal, Ca, will make his first defense of his world title in the house he essentially built (in terms of boxing attendance), The Save Mart Center, as he will face undefeated Antonio Orozco on Friday, September 14th on ESPN.

Ramirez was supposed to defend his title against Danny O’Connor on July 7th, but O’Connor was rushed to the hospital and was unable to weigh-in.

Ramirez looks to make it a memorable night fighting on Mexican Independence weekend and on the eve of the biggest boxing match of the year, Canelo Alvarez vs. Gennady Golovkin II in Las Vegas, Nevada. Ramirez also will be fighting for the first time with Robert Garcia in his corner after leaving Freddie Roach earlier this year.
