Jamel Herring dominants in Fresno debut against Moralde

Super featherweight and 2012 U.S. Olympian Jamel Herring, a former Marine making his debut in the Fresno area, put on a nearly flawless performance against John Vincent Moralde at the Save Mart Center in Fresno, CA, on the televised broadcast of ESPN portion of the telecast, to win the USBA super featherweight title.

Herring established proper distance and an active jab from the southpaw stance as he kept John Vincent Moralde at a distance. The rounds paced on as Herring was the clear aggressor and ring general, keeping Moralde or inactive for the duration of the fight. In the fourth round, a straight left from Herring pushed Moralde’s head back.

Herring spent the majority of the fight crowding Moralde staying active, but unable to land the telling blow that would change the fight. Herring dominated from start to finish. Herring was cut in the final round by a clash of head which caused a cut.

The judges saw the bout 100-90 on all three cards.
