Miguel Berchelt batters Roman, plus Top Rank undercard results

WBC super featherweight champion Miguel Berchelt made easy work of number one contender Miguel “Micky” Roman in the main event of their ESPN+ bout from El Paso, Texas, promoted by Top Rank Inc. Berchelt was the more talented and skilled fighter and despite a valiant effort, Roman walked into far too many shots getting dropped twice in the sixth round, once badly to the body. Berchelt was most comparable to a sniper as he picked his shots perfectly.

Miguel Berchelt dropped Roman in the ninth round and minutes later the bout was stopped. This was a dominant title defense by Berchelt who hasn’t been the most active.

Three-time former world title challenger Miguel Marriaga (27-3, 23 KOs) scored a fourth round KO over Jose Estrella (20-15-1, 14 KOs) in a featherweight bout. Marriaga continues his legacy of being one of the best challengers to never win a world title as he dropped Estrella twice, once in third and finishing him in the fourth with a body shot.

2016 Olympic gold medalist Robson Conceicao (10-0, 5 KOs) continues his surge up the rankings by defeating Joey Laviolette (9-2, 5 KOs) over eight rounds in a super featherweight clash. Conceicao picked up a business as usual outing winning every round, but without capturing the imagination of fans despite a high-level of boxing intelligence.

Lightweight Saul “Neno” Rodriguez (22-0-1, 16 KOs) scored second-round TKO over Claudio Rosendo Tapia (28-19-4, 13 KOs). Rodriguez recently re-signed with Top Rank Inc after a brief stint with Mayweather Promotions, Rodriguez started his career with Top Rank Inc and was trained by Robert Garcia.

Super middleweight Janibek Alimkhanuly picked up a hard-fought split decision over Vaughn Alexander, the brother of Devon Alexander, Nicklaus Flaz upset previously unbeaten Sagadat Rakhmankul in a bout that Flaz dropped Rakhmankul and Zach Prieto picked the first round knockout over Michael Andrews.
