Joseph Landeros set to return December 7th in Tijuana, Mexico

Undefeated Blue Chip prospect Joseph “El Tigre” Landeros (14-0, 14 KO’s) will look to keep his unblemished record alive as he will close out 2018 with one final fight December 7th, 2018  as part of the “Night of Boxing” series live from the Big Punch Arena in Tijuana, Mexico, against an opponent to be named later.

Landeros the 17-year old Riverside native began boxing professionally at the age of 15 after capturing multiple national titles and two Bi-National gold medals as a decorated amateur. For Landeros who is a 4.0 honor student at King High School in Riverside this will only be his third fight of the year as much of 2018 has been focused on school. This past year has also given Landeros the opportunity to star in a Nike commercial that was released during the Winter Olympics, as well as starring in two independent boxing films.

After having his own personal gym built, transitioning to a new trainer in Jose “Monchis” Torres and just being months away from his 18th birthday, Landeros will focus on one last fight in Mexico before making his US debut early next year. “Fighting in Mexico has given me the opportunity to grow at a nice pace while developing my skills as a boxer little by little. It has also given me the opportunity and experience of fighting in front of a whole different type of fan base” In his young career Landeros has fought in several regions of Mexico, including Sinaloa, Aguascalientes, Chihuahua, Rosarito, and Tijuana.  “After fighting in the cold climate of Chihuahua in 2017 we returned to fight in Rosarito, and Tijuana in each fight we fought boxers with with different characteristics, including a very crafty southpaw in my last fight. I’ve also had the opportunity to hone my craft by taking on veteran fighters who have been in the ring with the likes of  the great “Chocolatito” Gonzalez and Edgar Sosa.”

Now with Monchis Torres in his corner for the first time, Landeros will not only be moving up from bantamweight to super bantamweight for his upcoming bout but perfecting his skill set.  “As his new trainer I’m not coming in trying to change Joseph’s style, Joseph has a good style of fighting. I’m here so we can work on his skills, his jab speed and his movement.” Stated Torres “Landeros is a very fast learner and our goal as a team is to have him in the top of world rankings by his 20th birthday with the hopes of fighting for a title. This kid is 100% dedicated and I’m confident he’ll be ready.  When talking about the recent changes in his camp Landeros stated. “In my last fight it was very difficult for me to get 118lbs. This camp will be more focused on strength and speed rather than trying to cut so much weight. With coach Torres in my corner our priorities have changed. This camp I’ve have gotten world class training that has focused on improving my footwork, ring generalship and over all performance including having great sparring sessions with former WBC Super Bantamweight World Champion Victor “Vikingo” Terrazas and world title contender Mauricio Herrera as well as several others.”

The “Night of Boxing” card will be televised in the United States via delay through the World Class Boxing Program presented by LATV and PTV in Mexico.
