Jose Ramirez to return in February in either Fresno or Las Vegas

WBC super lightweight world champion Jose Ramirez (23-0 16KOs) will be back in February of 2019, but he doesn’t have an official date or venue yet.

Ramirez’s manager on an Instagram post talked about how Ramirez will return, but it is a battle between Las Vegas, Nevada and Ramirez’s favorite location, The SaveMart Center in Fresno, CA.

Jose Ramirez who won the WBC super lightweight world title at Madison Square Garden last year against Amir Imam tried to defend the title later that year against Danny O’Connor, who never was able to weigh-in and as O’Connor was forced to the hospital due to a weight cutting mishap. Ramirez would then return the night before Canelo vs. Golovkin II in Las Vegas, Nevada to defeat undefeated Golden Boy Promotions prospect, Antonio Orozco.

No opponent has been tied to Ramirez as of yet, but in short, you can expect one of Top Rank’s best fighters to be back early next year, with a good chance the bout takes place in Fresno, CA.

Interesting of note that Ramirez may not fight again in Fresno in the remainder of 2019, as his goal is to unify the super lightweight division meaning that a neutral venue of Las Vegas, Nevada might house the rest of Ramirez’s fights for the year.
