Main Events NBC partnership in jeopardy, not a done deal

It seemed like a given once ESPN reported in October that Main events had secured a deal with NBC Sports, a network Main Events got a major boost from 2012 to 2014.

Main Events built stars and helped the careers of Sergey Kovalev, Steve Cunningham, Gabriel Rosado and Zab Judah through the partnership, but Premier Boxing Champions took over the programming after Main Events deal ended. Since 2016, NBC has not aired live boxing.

Mike Coppinger reported today that the deal is not done that roadblocks have come into play.

Main Events still has a good roster, but a largely unknown one as Sergey Kovalev will fight on ESPN in a co-promotion in February, but Dmitry Bivol, Meiirim Nursultanov and prospect LeShawn Rodriguez, all of whom you could build programming around.

This is a developing story
