Oscar Valdez return postponed, January 12th card appears off

Per a tweet from one of the organizers of BoxRec.com, a boxing database of past and upcoming fights, Oscar Valdez rumored return looking to make his fifth defense of his WBO featherweight title against Andoni Gago in Arizona appears to be off.

Valdez, who had his jaw broken in his bout against Scott Quigg last March in a memorable fight in the rain at the StubHub Center in Carson, Ca. Valdez has since left his longtime trainer Manny Robles and switched to Eddy Reynoso, the longtime trainer of Canelo Alvarez.

No reason was given for the delay in Oscar Valdez’s return, but the fighters featured on the undercard have been moved to the January 18th card in Verona, New York, headlined by heavyweight Bryant Jennings vs. Oscar Rivas.
