Ryan Garcia, Katie Taylor win on Canelo vs. Rocky undercard results

Super featherweight prospect Ryan “Kingry” Garcia (17-0, 14 KOs) of Victorville, California looked the best he has in a disappointing 2018 as his new trainer Eddy Reynoso accompanied him to victory over Braulio Rodriguez (19-4, 17 KOs) of the Dominican Republic. Garcia knocked out Rodriguez in the fifth round at 1:14. The fight was awkward as Rodriguez played the role of a showboating spoiler.

Women’s IBF & WBA lightweight champion Katie Taylor (12-0, 5 KOs) defeated Eva Wahlstrom (22-1-1, 3 KOs) of Finland by way of a 100-90 shutout. Taylor had beat Wahlstrom in the amateur six times before beating her as a professional.

Fast-rising super featherweight Lamont Roach Jr. (18-0-1, 7 KOs) won a decision over Alberto Mercado (15-2-1, 3 KOs) Puerto Rico in an evenly matched bout. The judges scored the bout 99-91, 98-92, and 97-93.

Super lightweight Yves Ulysse (17-1, 9 KOs) of Montreal, Canada won a unanimous decision over Max Becerra (16-3-2, 8 KOs) in an eight-round bout. The judges saw the bout 79-71, 78-72, and 78-72.

In the opening bout from Madison Square Garden in New York. Australian super middleweight prospect Bilal Akkawy (19-0-1, 15 KOs) stopped Viktor Fonseca (17-9-1, KOs) of Tijuana, Mexico in the seventh round of a scheduled eight round bout.
