ABNER MARES OUT! GERVONTA DAVIS SEEKS NEW OPPONENT

OH NO!

Four-division world champion Abner Mares has suffered an injury with the news breaking late-last night as first reported by BoxingTalk.com.

Mares, who had a media day scheduled at the Robert Garcia Boxing Academy on Tuesday, but had been canceled 12 hours ahead of the event.

It appears that the injury either got worse, or happened during training the day before the media day.

The news is a somber note for boxing fans as Gervonta Davis is looking to return from a nine and a half month layoff to face a future hall-of-famer in Mares.

The card has sold-out, so it is unlikely the card will be canceled, but as of right now Gervonta Davis does not have an opponent.

The February 9th Showtime card will take place at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, CA.
