Derevyanchenko-Culcay title eliminator April 13th

As first reported by Jake Donovan, a middleweight title eliminator bout between Sergiy Derevyanchenko and Jack Culcay will happen April 13th in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The bout will be the co-main event to Minnesota local Caleb Truax fighting former middleweight world champion Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin.

The bout will serve as a mandatory contender for the IBF middleweight title, the one Daniel Jacobs won the vacant title via split decision over Sergey Derevyanchenko last October in New York City. Daniel Jacobs, the IBF middleweight champion, will face Canelo Alvarez on May 4th, with not just his belt on the line, but the WBA and WBC middleweight titles as well.

Derevyanchenko (12-1, 10KOs) has not fought since the aforementioned loss to Jacobs. A member of the 2008 Ukraine Olympic team, the squat middleweight relocated to Brooklyn prior to the start of his pro career, where he shares a head trainer with Jacobs in noted New York City coach Andre Rozier.
