Claressa Shields vs. Christina Hammer set for April 13th

Undefeated middleweight world champions Claressa Shields and Christina Hammer will meet on Saturday, April 13 live on SHOWTIME to crown the women’s undisputed 160-pound world champion. The blockbuster unification from Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J. will be the main event of SHOWTIME BOXING: SPECIAL EDITION, live at 9 p.m. ET/PT and is arguably the most significant women’s boxing event in history.

Shields’ is a two-time U.S. Olympic gold medalist in 2012 and 2016. Shields made her pro debut in 2016 against former U.S. amateur standout Franchon Crews Dezurn, whom she defeated by decision and beat WBC super middleweight women’s world champion Nikki Adler in fourth professional fight. Shields stopped Adler in the fifth round.

Christina Hammer is undefeated WBO and WBC middleweight champion who holds wins over Kali Reis, Maria Lindberg and a who’s who of European talent.

The bout will be a unification of all of the titles in the middleweight division.

The fight was originally scheduled for November 2018, was postponed due to a now-resolved medical issue suffered by Hammer.

The bout is one of the biggest bouts in women’s boxing history.
