WBA orders Daniel Roman vs. Murodjon “MJ” Akhmadaliev

The World Boxing Association has ordered their super bantamweight champion, Daniel Roman, to make a mandatory title defense against Murodjon Akhmadaliev in his next bout, which could be Roman’s toughest task of his young career.

Roman coming off the biggest win of his career, unifying two of the world titles in the super bantamweight division defeating IBF super bantamweight world chaampion TJ Doheny, will now face the fighter with the most risk in Akhamadaliev, a fighter who has been heavily avoided.

Per the rules of the WBA, Roman has nine months, meaning he must fight him before January 2020.

Akhmadaliev is a six-fight professional winning all, but one of his bouts by knockout and is trained by Indio, Ca’s Joel Diaz. Akhmadaliev is best known for stopping Isaac Zarate on the second to last HBO card, and recently knocked out Carlos Carlson.
