Ryota Murata stops Rob Brant in rematch, regains world title
Former Olympic gold medalist and now two-time WBA middleweight world champion, Ryota Murata (15-2 12KOs) stopped Rob Brant (25-2 17KOs) in two rounds, with the stoppage coming at 2:34 of the aforementioned second round at the EDION Arena in Osaka, Japan.
Murata landed great body shots early which set-up his trademark right hand that put away Brant.
The other Japanese world champion, Ken Shiro (16-0 9 KOs) made his sixth defense of the WBC light-flyweight belt Jonathan Taconing (28-4-1, 22 KOs), with a fourth-round stoppage at 1:00. Shiro is Japan’s longest-reigning champion currently.
