Chris Algieri Says Watch For “Juicy” Duncan on ProBoxTV
PROBOX TV gets set for another monthly Wednesday night broadcast from Tampa, Florida. The network prides itself on ‘promoting boxing’ rather than specific fighters, a rule that it hopes will give its young stable the experience they need to reach the very top.
Former world champion Chris Algieri, who now works as a commentator and pundit for the network, has had a chance to get a deeper understanding of many of the young warriors plying their trade on PROBOX TV.
One fighter in particular that has caught the eye of Algieri is welterweight Demontaze Duncan (8-0, 8 KOs), who will face Axl Melendez (5-0, 4 KOs) this Wednesday night live on PROBOX TV.
“I am very high in this kid! I’ve watched a lot of his tape.” Algieri stated when describing the promising Demontaze Duncan.
“Yes, I am very high on him. Especially when I met him over the last couple of days. He’s a very humble kid, very happy to be here. From what I understand, he works very hard and is a gym rat too. He is super talented in terms of what he is able to do in the ring.
“He’s only 20 years old, he’s got a good build for the weight class and looks like a true welterweight. He’s tall, he’s long and he lets his hands go. The kid has serious power as you can see from his record. I’m really looking forward to seeing how he progresses.”
Algieri continued while discussing Duncan’s upcoming bout with Axl Melendez.
“This is a tough fight! He has an undefeated guy in-front of him, a little bit of an unknown, I couldn’t find too much tape on him. But after talking to him today I found out he’s training with world class guys down in Puerto Rico like Jose Pedraza, Mercito Gesta and Subriel Matias. Those are three world class guys right there!”
