David Lemieux stops Spike O’Sullivan in one round
Former middleweight world champion David Lemieux made short work of Gary “Spike” O’Sullivan knocking him out in the very first round on the undercard of Canelo Alvarez vs. Gennady Golovkin from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The first round saw a whole lot of nothing as O’Sullivan looked to stop the early Lemieux storm of punches by using movement, Lemieux had the slight edge in this round, but not by much until Lemieux landed an overhand right that ended the fight in the very first round.
O’Sullivan looked to be trying to outbox Lemieux, but was eating left hooks to the body at ease, the right hand that connected at 2:44 of the first round sent O’Sullivan to the canvas as he was unable to answer the bell.
After the bout, Lemieux told HBO Boxing’s Max Kellerman he’d welcome a fight with either Canelo Alvarez or Gennady Golovkin and is eager to face both at some point.
