Golovkin steamrolls Rolls in tune-up fight, now Canelo-GGG III?
Former middleweight world champion Gennady Golovkin stopped undefeated Canadian Steve Rolls in the fourth round of the main event taking place at Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York, and was Golovkin’s first on DAZN.
The bout saw Golovkin move a bit more and jab, but true to form taking a lot of punches to give some punches, but in typical Golovkin fashion, that didn’t appear a problem. Golovkin appears to be motivated with his wealthy DAZN contract and his fourth-round knockout of Steve Rolls gives a vintage Golovkin performance to DAZN to use in their archive until the end of time.
Golovkin seems set to fight Canelo in September for their trilogy if everything goes to plan.
On the undercard, super middleweight Ali Akhmedov defeated Marcus McDaniel via third-round stoppage for the vacant WBC International Silver super middleweight title, welterweight Brian Ceballo picked up an eight round decision over previously unbeaten Bakhtiyar Eyubov in a solid step-up win, super welterweight Israil Madrimov stopped Norberto Gonzalez in sixth rounds via technical knockout, Madrimov is a ten-round fighter in only three pro fights and will fight for a title more than likely before his seventh pro fight, a serious talent.
2016 U.S. Olympian, super welterweight Charles Conwell picked up a ten-round decision over Courtney Pennington to win the USBA super welterweight title and the first bout of the evening saw Nikita Ababiy scored a viral first-round knockout of Juan Barajas.
