Fernando Angel Molina collides with Kevin Piedrahita in Guadalajara, May 3rd
ProBox TV returns to Mexico next week with its monthly edition of Wednesday Night Fights. The network hits Guadalajara alongside Eddy Reynoso’s No Boxing No Life on the Saul Canelo Alvarez Vs John Ryder fight week and is set to play a big part in the Cinco de Mayo celebrations.
ProBox TV will broadcast three live fights on May 3. The evening’s main event will see Fernando Angel Molina (8-0-1, 3 KOs) defend his undefeated record against Columbian Kevin Piedrahita (6-1, 6 KOs) over 10 rounds in the lightweight division.
Molina returns home to Guadalajara after seven fights in America. His last outing saw him draw with Aaron Aponte on the undercard of Canelo Vs Gennadiy Golovkin last September, the first blemish on the 20-year-old record. Piedrahita comes off a 5th-round knockout victory over the undefeated Marco Cota Moreno last September. His record in Mexico is quite emphatic, with two stoppage victories over undefeated opponents.
The chief support will see Lazaro Lorenzana (10-0, 8 KOs) lock horns with Alexis Rios Munguia (4-2-1) over 6 rounds in the super welterweight division. Californian Lorenzana comes off a points victory over Cameron Krael in his native San Diego last month, he returns back to Mexico next week having had nine of his ten professional fights in the country. Rios comes off a points defeat against Heriberto Flores Guerrero and will look to put an end to a three-fight winless streak.
Kicking off the televised action will see talented American Johnathan Lopez (10-0, 7 KOs) take on Osvaldo Saul Nunez Medina (5-4) in the super featherweight division over 10 rounds.
ProBox TV will lead an all-star commentary team that includes former world champions Chris Algieri and Paulie Malignaggi. They will also be joined by world-class broadcasters Mike Goldberg and Claudia Trejos.
