Las Vegas, NV, The D Hotel, 10:00PM EST -Trevor Bryan vs Derric Rossy, 10 rounds, heavyweights; Natu Visinia vs. Joey Dawejko, 8 rounds, heavyweights

Trevor Bryan is a heavyweight who has faced limited at best opposition whereas Derric Rossy has been fighting above his skill level his whole career. In fact Bryan’s opponent two fights ago was a 6-19-3, who he took to decision. In contrast, Rossy is 2-2 coming into this bout with a majority decision loss and close split decision loss being his losses, all against prospects with good records. The bout will determine a bit about the future for Bryan.

Natu Visina was last seen getting stopped by Steve Cunningham whereas Joey Dawejko lost a sleepy decision to Amir Mansour, that killed nearly all of his buzz with his performance. Both fighters are that level below the top of the division, but skilled and could get a big fight in the future. This is a barometer fight to see who moves forward with their career.

At Marbella, Spain, NO U.S. TV – Matthew Macklin vs. Chris Hermann, 10 rounds, middleweights

Macklin, a former world title contender is in a lose or go home effort against a hand selected opponent to get him back in the win column. The problem is Macklin has been regressing at a rapid rate with his front foot heavy offensive style and could find himself in another war whether he wants to or not.

At Tijuana, Mexico, 7:30PM, YouTube live stream – Tony Hirsch vs. Rolando Paredes, 10 rounds, middleweights

Oakland, CA’s Tony Hirsch returns to action to defend his “US” WBC middleweight title. Hirsch, the longtime sparring partner of Andre Ward, has made a career of tough circumstances and coming in on the b-side for the majority of his career despite his high skill level. Hirsch will be looking to continue his success late in his career as he defends his title for the first time since winning it.

At Los Angeles, CA, Staples Center, 9PM EST, ESPN –  Leo Santa Cruz vs. Abner Mares, 12 rounds, featherweights; Hugo Ruiz vs. Julio Ceja, 12 rounds, for vacant WBC interim junior featherweight title; Alfredo Angulo vs. Hector Munoz,10 rounds, super middleweights

The Los Angeles super-fight between Leo Santa Cruz and Abner Mares has somewhat been a bit more tame than expected in terms of buzz and excitement. In the past two years both fighters have fought b-level at best talent and seemingly underperformed in these circumstances. A lot of people have grown tired of both fighters antics, especially Santa Cruz who is now seemingly hated by most Mexican-American fans. 

The undercard features fan favorite Alfredo Angulo on his comeback tour as well as an evenly matched bout between Hugo Ruiz and Julio Ceja to start the telecast.

At Inglewood, CA, The Forum, Integrated Sports PPV – Shane Mosley vs. Ricardo Mayorga, rematch, 12 rounds, middleweights; Yulihan Avila vs. Maureen Shea, 10 rounds, female junior featherweights; Joel Diaz Jr. vs. Luis Arceo, 10 rounds, lightweights

The $50 “old guy fight” is still on with a decent, but not tremendous undercard. The bout between Yulihan Avila and Maureen Shea seemingly steals the show as Joel Diaz Jr. will be in action, but not tested as he will face an outmatched foe. Mosley-Mayorga II is a sublime treat that is hard not to watch, but looking at the two athletes it is a night and day difference between the condition Mosley is in as opposed to Mayorga, who leading up to the fight has been rumored to be overweight dramatically.
