This afternoon former two-time super middleweight champion, Andre Ward officially announced he would return to the Oracle Arena on August 6th as the main event of a card promoted by Roc Nation Sports and broadcast by HBO Boxing. Ward last fought against the number one contender for the IBF light heavyweight title, Sullivan Barrera.

Ward will take on Alexander Brand, whose lone loss is to the WBC super middleweight champion, Badou Jack. This will be Brand’s first fight at light heavyweight.

Though no official undercard has been announced Brooklyn’s Junior Younan, Riverside, CA’s Daniel Franco and Oakland, CA’s Bilal Mahasin are all being linked to the card with no official opponents named though, it is widely speculated Mahasin will face Luis Alfredo Lugo of Richmond, CA
