“Big Baby” Miller stops Gerald Washington
Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller (19-0-1 16KOs) defeated Gerald “El Gallo Negro” Washington (18-2-1 12KOs) in the last bout of the prelims before the Showtime telecast at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Washington won the first round, but the much heavier “Big Baby” Miller, who weighed in at 300 lbs., used forward pressure and massive size advantage to walk down Washington, who struggled to keep the bigger fighter off of him. Washington, who landed clean left hooks and uppercuts on Miller, had no answer for the bigger man walking forward and leaning on him. In the sixth round, Washington rocked Miller at the start of the round, but ended with Miller nearly stopping Washington.
The bout was waived off in between the eighth and ninth round as Washington was hurt by a flurry as the bell rung and the ref called the bout off.
In the first bout of the Showtime Sports stream on FaceBook and YouTube, Ireland’s Katie Taylor (6-0 3KOs) dominated Jasmine Clarkson (4-9) in a female lightweight fight.
