Matthysse-Provodnikov getting closer and closer

With less than a month to go, the highly anticipated match-up between Lucas Matthysse and Ruslan Provodnikov could not come any sooner. The fight since its announcement was well received by the boxing world, who at first were skeptical of the location of the event (Verona, NY) but ticket sales prove that fight fans are willing to travel even if it’s in the most remote location.
The fight, who many believe should have happened in Carson, California’s famous Stub Hub Center, is already being dubbed at the fight of the year, even with the official announcement of Mayweather versus Manny Pacquiao. What makes it so intriguing is the action, power, and excitement these two gladiators bring into the ring.
Those who follow boxing know the names and when you hear Ruslan Provodnikov you can’t help but to think of the fight of the year candidate he had with Tim Bradley, a fight where he dropped Bradley, wobbled him on multiple occasions and was seconds away in the final round from securing a win. That alone is impressive as most can’t recall the last time Bradley went down in a fight, or even looked that hurt since his fight with Kendall Holt.
Then there’s Lucas Matthysse, who went to war with John Molina Jr in another fight of the year candidate. Matthysse and Molina exchanged knockdowns in a bloody war before Molina took all he could handle and was knocked out in the 11th round of their fight.
Both these guys have 1 punch knockout power and it makes for a tremendous show on April 18th. The winner is surely to get another title shot opportunity later in the year.
