East Oakland Boxing Association will be hosting a fundraiser at the gym located on 816 98th Ave, Oakland, CA at 1:00pm. The event promises live sparring, food, music and more entertainment. The event will also have special guests such as WBO flyweight champion Melissa McMorrow, IBA middleweight champion Paul Mendez, undefeated Oakland boxer Troy King who has 100% knockout percentage, retired middleweight champion Gina “Boom Boom” Guidi, WBC heavyweight champion Martha Salazar, BKB junior welterweight champion Jonathan Chicas plus many more.

East Oakland Boxing Association was founded by Stanley Garcia in 1987 to help improve quality of life in the neighborhood. The EOBA received recognition from the California State Legislature for being “Dedicated to the Sustainable Future of the Community”and from the State Assembly for “Collaboration on Green Jobs and a Green Economy and Commitment to Providing Youth with Work-Readiness Training, Leadership Skills, and Guidance”. EOBA also received the “Green Hero” Award for efforts in making Oakland a greener city. EOBA’s organic garden is a certified backyard wildlife habitat through the National Wildlife Federation.

In 2010, sadly the founder, Stanley Garcia, passed away, but his legacy remains through the program. Donations to sustain the program and help the greater East Oakland area would be greatly appreciated, but not required for entry.  The event will be headed by East Oakland Boxing Association boxing coach Dalia Gomez aka Coach G and Executive Director of East Oakland Boxing Association, Sarah Chavez-Yoell.
