IBF will not stop Golovkin-Lemieux from happening says Golovkin Manager

Well, earlier this week it was stated that recently crowned IBF middleweight champion David Lemieux would first like to make a mandatory defense of his IBF belt before facing middleweight boogeyman, Gennady Golovkin. At the current moment the most logical eliminator fight (based off the IBF rankings) for that spot would be a match between Eamonn O’Kane and Tureano Johnson. Sure that is not a bad fight, but that is also not really something that drives fight fans wild as well.

Yesterday, Gennady Golovkin’s manager, took to Twitter to explain that the IBF will not interfere in a potential match up between Lemieux and Golovkin as they have given their blessing. Now let’s also look at the source, someone who has invested interesting in propelling Golovkin to the upper tier and at the current time the IBF has yet to respond to this writers request upon the validity of the statement.

Nonetheless, this is some good gamesmanship by team Golovkin as the hardcore fight fans saw the writing on the wall with Lemieux becoming a champion on the recently devastated Golden Boy Promotions roster, it would seem far fetched they would take such a risky fight with one of their few champions.
