Haskins now IBF Bantamweight champion, Caballero no longer on card
In a truly bizarre story that seems more Amelia Earhart than professional sports, Randy Caballero has lost his IBF bantamweight title on the scales by coming in a whooping 5 and half pounds over the bantamweight limit and a pound and half over in the next divisions weight limit. Lee Haskins has been now promoted to IBF bantamweight champion and in return will not face Caballero on tonight’s online telecast prior to the pay-per-view.
Caballero, who has been touted as one of Golden Boy Promotions stars in wake claims he went to bed at 119 lbs, but woke up massively overweight and couldn’t lose the extra pounds per a report with The Desert Sun. Nonetheless, the mistake is costly as Caballero who has been inactive for the whole year will now not only lose his belt , but also lose out on the exposure of fighting on one of the biggest cards of the year and/or decade.
Haskins, the new champion, said it was “…bitter sweat” when talking to the IFL as he feels he would of liked to of won the belt from someone. Nonetheless, Haskins is the new champion and as of the time of this article neither man will be in action tonight.
