Verdejo, Donaire win on TruTV

Puerto Rican star-in-the-making Felix “El Diamante” Verdejo (19-0, 14 KOs) defeated Josenilson Dos Santos (25-3, 15 KOs) via second round KO on Friday night at the Coliseo Roberto Clemente in San Juan, Puerto Rico. A thunderous Verdejo right hand dropped Dos Santos, a man who has struggled to find the win column whenever leaving his native Brazil. Dos Santos got up and was unsteady on his feet before getting relieved of his duties of fighting a few seconds later.

Nonito Donaire is a world champion again, though it is under weird circumstances as the man who beat him, Guillermo Rigondeaux, was stripped of the title, Donaire fight for and won tonight. The vacant WBO junior featherweight title was on the line as Nonito Donaire (36-3, 23 KOs) won a very exciting bout over Cesar Juarez (17-3, 13 KOs). Donaire dropped Juarez twice in round four and seemingly was cruising to an easy win. Juarez refused to go away and applied a lot of pressure to Donaire towards the end of the fight winning a lot of the late rounds and seemingly dropping Donaire late. The judges scored the bout 116-110, 116-110, 117-109.
