Oscar Valdez stops Mexican Russian in 4th round
The second bout of the pay-per-view undercard from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV, featherweight Oscar Valdez (19-0 17KOs) defeated Evgeny “The Mexican Russian” Gradovich (21-2-1 9KOs) by brutal beating that was stopped in the fourth round.
“…I am going to have to evolve and I think I have evolved since I first fought….I think I earned my shot at a world title” said Valdez to HBO’s Max Kellerman
The fight saw Gradovich trying to push the action, but simply unable to do so effectively as Valdez pot shotted him and never was in any trouble what-so-ever. Valdez would then land a hard left hook in the second round that seemed to greatly impact Gradovich with less then 10 seconds remaining in the round.
The fourth round saw Gradovich unable to close his jaw fully and was dropped by a check left hook to the head that saw the fight waived off seconds later. Gradovich could of continued, but it was pointless as he was barely able to hit Valdez in any round and walking right into hard punches
Oscar Valdez is now the NABO featherweight champion.
