“[on if he beats Canelo] I think it puts me amongst the best, it just depends. Boxing is on a high at the moment and I am just going to go with the flow”
“Camp is going really well, I have introduced a lot of new things [also], watching a lot of film of Canelo Alvarez. ”
“I did a lot of strength work, I didn’t want to eat my way up to 155 [lbs].”
“[Canelo] is very strong, he has power. It has been getting use to taking that power and feeling that power as well as feeling that pressure when someone is coming at you.”
“We have a really good game plan for this fight and as long as I stick to the game plan I can win quite comfortably.”
“I think holding 155 lbs. will be perfect for me since I will be strong walking into the ring and I will be making weight a lot easier.”
“Kell Brook needs to take the hard fights. Listen man, you’re upsetting all the fans, you’re upsetting all the people, get in there with some big names. He is just ruining his own career.”
Oscar De La Hoya, Golden Boy Promotions
“Amir Khan has been waiting for a big fight his entire career and he deserves a big fight…Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather didn’t want to fight [Amir Khan]”
“This is a classic match-up of speed versus power.”
“One fighter is going to have to use a perfect game plan , has to stay focused and use his range.”
“One thing about Amir Khan is he is sometimes a little too brave for his own good and people might say that has been his achilles’ heel.”
“Not only for the main event, but we strongly feel that from top to bottom people will love it.”
Shan Khan, Amir Khan’s father and manager
“Amir got a message from Oscar [De La Hoya] in December [about what he thought about this fight]. Amir in the back of his mind said it was a great fight, but he didn’t get back to Oscar right away. Then he spoke with myself, Virgil and we thought it was a great fight.”
“Virgil [Hunter] has changed him so much, he has taught him so much defense as well, moving over here made a big difference.”
“The kind of reception we get [in the Bay Area] is great, it is like being back home in England.”
“Amir is committed to the sport, he is sacrificing a lot for this fight.”
