Zurdo Ramirez defends title beats Jesse Hart in the rematch
WBO super middleweight world champion Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez made the fifth title defense of his world title beating Jesse “Hard Work” Hart in a competitive, but dominant win in front of a packed house at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas.
The first round saw both fighters feeling each other out with the second round seeing Hart takeover the bout with angles and movement.
Ramirez was unphased as he applied constant pressure that had Hart walking back into the ropes and eating heavy shots as it appeared Ramirez had taken over the fight, but Hart would fight back in the fifth.
The next few rounds were close, but Ramirez appeared more aggressive, while Hart was more methodical. It was close and the exact feeling I felt was ‘I’d hate to be a judge.’
Zurdo Ramirez appeared to dramatically tire in the eighth round as Hart began to outwork him, but fought back in the ninth.
The tenth and eleventh were close, they kept exchanging, but no one seemed to win the exchanges. The final round saw Ramirez land right hand after right hand in a dominant one-sided round.
The judges saw the bout 114-114, 115-113 and 115-113 for Ramirez.
