Bay Area boxing returns to San Mateo THIS SATURDAY – INFO HERE

Super lightweight prospect Willie Shaw Jr. (10-1, 7KOs) will rematch Jose Maruffo (12-8-2, 1KO) at the San Mateo Events Center on Saturday, August 24th, in San Mateo, California in an eight-round bout.

The bout is a rematch of a competitive and close bout in which Maruffo edged a split decision. Shaw has added former light heavyweight world title contender Oscar Rivadeneira to his team along with his existing coach, Jairo Escobar. Rivadenira was Escobar’s coach when Escobar started boxing, and Shaw is focused on avenging his loss moving towards a financial prosperous fight.

Ultra-talented super bantamweight Vic Pasillas (14-0, 7KOs) will face Ernesto Guerrero (32-28, 22KOs) in an eight-round bout in the co-main event. Pasillas is a world title caliber fighter, he just has to stay active, but is one of the most impressive fighters in all of boxing.

Cruiserweight Andres Salas (4-0, 4KOs) of San Francisco, Ca has started his career off strong with four knockouts, but will rematch Fernando Caro (2-2) of Richmond, Ca, after a close bout in their last outing that saw Salas stop Caro late more so based on fatigue. The bout will be an action-packed affair against two hard workers in the sport of boxing.

Women’s bantamweight Iris Contreras (3-0) will face Beki Light (1-4, 1KO) in a four-round bout. This is the third fight between the two, Contreras has won the previous two.

Super lightweight Jonathan Rubio (1-0, 1KO) will look to continue his career in a good way as he faces Matt Gavers (0-3-1), a quality test, in a four-round bout.

Super welterweight Chris Washington (3-0, 2KOs) will face former MMA fighter, David Douglas (0-1).

The event will occur from 5 PM to 10 PM.
