Stockton, Ca’s Giovannie Gonzalez To Promote First Fight, November 29th
Stockton, Ca lightweight professional boxer “King” Giovannie Gonzalez (10-5-1, 8 KOs), is now in the midst of becoming a promoter.
“I want to set-up a foundation to build fighters the right way,” said the Stockton, California native, and CEO of KingGio Boxing Promotions. “I know that with my experience and my business mind I could bring up a world champion, and that is something that not a lot of promoters are able to do.”
Gonzalez will face Jose Luis Rosa (9-1, 6 KOs), on November 29, a Sunday at 1 pm PST at the Plaza de Toros, which will be an outside event, with only 150 people allowed at fights.
Gonzalez, who was set to fight Juan Manuel Lopez prior to COVID-19, now is fighting for the vacant WBF international lightweight title.
Gonzalez was also able to secure a deal with a streaming network in order to broadcast the fight live which will be broadcast live on FightHub TV, Best In Boxing & Global Sports Streaming.
“As a fighter, you have to take chances in the ring, and now I am taking chances outside of the ring,” said Gonzalez. “I’m working hard to get a big fight, but I’m also securing my future by becoming a promoter, as well, so I don’t have to fight for years on end to make a living.”
Gonzalez, who has had eleven of his sixteen professional bouts take place in Mexico, feels that starting in Mexico, is the best way.
“Mexico loves and supports boxing unlike anywhere else in the world,” said Gonzalez. “If we entertain people in Mexico, we can entertain anywhere, I feel.”
Gonzalez, who trains with Marco Arroyo Sr., better known as Chino, will be looking to bring back a title to Stockton, but more importantly, looks to lay the blueprint for young emerging fighters falling under the radar.
