Sergey Kovalev will be back in action towards the end of summer as defends his IBF light heavyweight title against Nadjib Mohammedi. The bout was officially announced with a press conference on Saturday in Los Angeles. The bout was originally going to be a week earlier, but now has been pushed back to July 25th , but will still happen at The Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, NV

Mohammedi won his mandatory position against Anatoliy Dudchenko back when Bernard Hopkins still was champion. Hopkins decided to face Kovalev rather than defend hence setting up this fight. The fight was also made after a failed purse bid attempt to make Adonis Stevenson vs. Sergey Kovalev happened in which Kovalev pulled out of the fight due to an exclusive contract with HBO.

Kovalev was last in action in March when he stopped Jean Pascal in Canada on HBO.

This bout will be Kovalev’s first time headlining in Las Vegas, Nv.
