WBC rules Juarez-Taborda a “no contest”, orders a rematch

After analyzing what happened last Saturday in Acapulco, the World Boxing Council, in coordination with FECOMBOX, has declared the bout between Mariana Juarez and Lorena Taborda a “No Contest.” Twenty officials certified by the WBC scored the fight on video and came to the conclusion that 97-93 in favor of Taborda was the correct score. Despite the fact, ringside views can obstruct views, the council ruled that scorecards were egregious in reflection of the fight.

In fact two of the three judges gave Juarez the fight with cards of 96-96 and 96-94 with only one judge giving the bout to Taborda with the score of 96-94. The two judges who gave the bout to Juarez Herminio Cuevas and Abraham Ibarra have been suspended for two and will undergo evaluation once reinstated.

The WBC has order a rematch to happen with WBC title on the line.
