KO of the Year: Andre Ward knocking out Sergey Kovalev

KO of the year – Andre Ward stops Sergey Kovalev

Andre Ward had the toughest fight of pro career against Sergey Kovalev in 2016. A fight that left fans debating the victor. Ward returned to face the feared puncher with Kovalev bad mouthing the American fighter at every turn. What happened shocked some of the world.

Ward rocked Kovalev with a left hook that nearly relieved Kovalev of his senses followed by multiple body shots that forced Kovalev to keel over leaving the referee no choice, but to halt the bout. Some objected saying the punch that ended the fight was low, but in my opinion, Kovalev was on the way out and Ward put pressure on him forcing him out of the bout.

In what Ward says is his last fight, we saw one thing he did well his whole career making guys work the whole time with no breaks. He forced Kovalev to be active the whole fight with no rest forcing Kovalev to have to question himself.
