Boxing returns to San Mateo August 24th with Willie Shaw

Boxing returns to San Mateo, Ca on August 24th as San Francisco, Ca’s Willie Shaw looks to avenge his lone career loss at the venue it happened at facing Jose Maruffo in a super lightweight, eight-round bout.

The bout will be a direct rematch of the close first bout in which Maruffo threw more punches than Shaw, and Shaw landed the harder punches. The hope is to see Shaw improve upon the mistakes from the first fight and continue his ascent to a national level fight.

The co-main event features former Top Rank Inc super bantamweight Vic Pasillas who will be fighting for the first time in the Bay Area, his new home, facing Ernesto Guerrero in an eight-round bout. Pasillas is one of the most talented fighters that doesn’t get mentioned nationally, a technical boxer who packs a big punch.

The undercard will feature Andres Salas versus Fernando Caro in a four-round cruiserweight bout. Salas stopped Caro earlier this year in the fourth round, but the fight was competitive, and both are eager to run it back.

Cruiserweight Mike Russell of Petaluma, Ca, will face Keith Berry in an exciting four-round bout. Russell suffered a hand injury in his last bout, a split decision loss to Alfredo Contreras, this will be his first fight back.

Super welterweight Chris Washington of Dreamland Boxing in San Jose, CA, will face former MMA world contender David Douglas in a four-round bout.

Iris Contreras will battle Beki Light for the third time as the two women bantamweights will fight in a four-round bout.

The card is put together by Andy Nance, promoted by Ambition Empire.
