Ruben Villa wins ShoBox main event
Featherweight Ruben Villa of Salinas, Ca, now is the WBO international featherweight champion after getting a ten-round decision over Luis Alberto Lopez in the main event of ShoBox: The Next Generation.
Villa showed superior skills and outboxed, a rugged opponent in Lopez.
The judges saw the bout 97-93, 98-92 and 96-94 all for Villa.
In the co-main event, rising lightweight prospect Michael Dutchover knocked out late replacement opponent Rosekie Cristobal in the first round with a body shot. The time was 1:46.
Bantamweight Saul Sanchez, who is trained by Joel Diaz, picked up an eighth round knockout over Brandon Leon Benitez in the television opener.
Undercard results saw former world title challenger Petr Petrov get a second-round knockout over Ruben Tamayo, in a battle of unbeaten super lightweights, Ruben Torres outpoint George Acosta in six-round bout, super lightweight Angel Ruiz get a second-round KO over Luis Avila, super flyweight Stephen Acosta get a four-round decision over Jose Melendez.
