Boxing Returns To Stockton On Friday, Cato-Cain, Ector Madera Featured
Tickets | Friday, August 26th, Stockton, California, or available on FightHype’s YouTube
Damian Sosa holds the WBO Latino 154 lbs title, and his fight against Ronald Cruz, a solid regional fighter is continuing the forward momentum for Sosa to get a fight on television against a big-name fighter like Charles Conwell, or even face Xander Zayasin the near future. Sosa is getting better with each fight, and facing quality competition, Sosa served as a sparring partner for Canelo Alvarez for this fight, and if he can beat Cruz – this should set the stage for him to get a national TV fight, and Toscano Boxing Promotions, getting the chance to co-promote with a major promoter in the United States, a major milestone for the promotion.
A tremendous rematch between Giovannie Gonzalez and Arturo Cortez will take place in Gonzalez’s hometown of Stockton, California. The first fight was close the two fighting to a draw in Mexico, and the rematch will see the two facing each other once again for a highly anticipated rematch.
Gabriel Muratalla, who was featured in Top Rank’s bubble during the pandemic, and the brother of Raymond Muratalla will take on Manuel Manzo. Robert Garcia will be in the building for this bout as well, as the famed trainer who just was in Anthony Joshua’s corner, will work Muratalla’s corner.
One of my favorite fighters from the Northern and Central California region, Ector Madera will return to the ring against Timothy Parks in a six-rounder. This will be Madera’s tenth pro fight, and I am hoping he can get more ring time after this fight as I think Madera will finish this fight fairly early.
Damani Cato Cain, a promising prospect, who has sparred with Vergil Ortiz Jr., and Terence Crawford will be featured on this card. Cato-Cain trains with Arvin Jugarap at The Kennel Boxing Gym.
